It requires a mere 39 digits of Pi in order to compute the circumference of a circle of radius 2 x 1025 (an upper bound on the distance travelled by a particle moving at the speed of light for 20 billion years, and as such an upper bound for the radius of the universe) with an error of less than 10-12 meters (a lower bound for the radius of a hydrogen atom).
